Bringing Quality Jiu Jitsu to Valley County
We focus on safe, effective, and fun training that men and women can experience together, regardless of whether they are grappling experts or brand new to the sport.
Growth is the name of the game with grappling - it's something that will never be mastered and can be something that grows with you throughout your entire life.
If you're looking to get in shape, learn a new skill, or are bringing a lifetime of skill, anyone can grow and improve with jiu jitsu training.
MTN Jiu Jitsu
Tony Day grew up with martial arts in his household - His grandfather had many boxing matches in the 1950s. His father owned a Kempo Karate school originating in the late 70s. Once the UFC came around in the mid 90s. Tony's dad and the other Karate black belts at the school knew they needed to make some changes to call what they were teaching self defense. The Gracies changed the very definition of combat sports. Tony remembers being a teenager and going to a Pedro Saurer seminar, he watched one man submit an entire room of grown men - one after another. After college Tony met Jacen through training MMA. Taking on an MMA fight and many jiu jitsu tournaments - having Jacen in his corner always felt like having a cheat code. Life took him in other directions for many years and he left the mats. Once Tony brought his kids to their first Judo practice in McCall - the itch of training on the mats returned and the past two years he has worked to bring Jiu Jitsu to Valley county. Tony is a purple belt under System's banner.

System Jiu Jitsu
Jacen Flynn and Nick Kugelman are the driving force behind System Jiu-Jitsu. Jacen, on the mats since 1996, has a 10–3 MMA record with wins over legends like Dean Lister and Denis Kang and became Craig’s first black belt in 2006. Nick began training in 2004 and earned his black belt from Jacen in 2015. Together, they’ve built an approach that is straightforward and focused on effective and efficient techniques. If you find yourself in Meridian - this is the place!
Craig Kukuk
The first non-Brazilian to earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began training under Rorion Gracie in 1981 at the original Gracie Academy in Torrance, California. After a decade of training with the Gracie family, he received his black belt in 1992. He later partnered with Renzo Gracie to produce the influential Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from A to Z series. Relocating to Idaho in 1999, Craig founded the Freestyle Training Center, focusing exclusively on no-gi jiu-jitsu for self-defense. Over the years, he promoted several black belts, including Jacen Flynn, who now runs System Jiu Jitsu in Meridian, continuing Craig’s no-gi system.
